to widget or not to widget

i keep seeing this "link within" widget on everyone's blogs. including the blogs i love most, like tangobaby, ramblins... and what possessed me. at first, i didn't like it. for one, i don't think the posts it links to are that related to the post at hand. and despite being gadget girl, i'm not really widget girl.

but as you can see, i've succumbed.

i'm still not sure i like it.

but i hate being left out.

the peer pressure made me do it.

i sure hope you guys don't decide to jump off a bridge.

Hi Julie,
no I don't like it cos I can't see the point unless the stories are directly related in some way and you already do that with links...
It's a fad!
It detracts from the page.

Here endeth my complaint.
Its a sinism (word verif 4 me)

I'm exactly the same! I just added it (probably because everyone had it), but as soon as I saw it on my blog, I didn't like it! I'm going to give it a couple of days and see what I think.

The look of my blog is already busy enough, so I'm not going to add it. I used the widget on any of the blogs I look at that have it.

I am doing the EXACT same thing. I added it last night, but, am feeling it makes my page too busy.

I feel that I am probably the only person enjoying it (on my own blog) because it shows me posts I have forgotten about....

I have to admit that I haven't used it to read old posts on other peoples blogs... hmmmmmm

I meant to say I have not used it on the blogs that have it. :)

Now I feel obliged to do something zany to see if I can make you succumb to peer pressure again :)

I have been thinking about it - can you use it just when you want to, or does it automatically attach itself to each post, leaving you to fill in the matching posts? I think it would be cool to have every once in a while, but I wouldn't want it all the time.

it does it automatically on every post and it decides everything for you. it kinda sucks and i think i'm taking it away again on monday, but i'm leaving it for the weekend, because things deserve a chance (who said that?)

and i'm a little afraid of what iasa is going to come up with. because we know that i'm weak.

I just added it this morning as well and am not sure I like it but like all the other comments, will give it a few days. Now I;d like to know how many people actually click on the links to see the other posts? I haven't yet so I may have answered my own question.

Just say no when the Kool-Aid comes around... I like it, and yeah, people do read the other posts, so I think it's worth it, since I'm sitting on almost 740 posts and counting.

LOL sorry hon....I wondered if it was a pain or not since the links are just ramdom....and, since I don't get notices when someone comments, I never know if someone commented on an old blog. Maybe I should follow you instead and take mine off?

I thought I'd try it for a week and see if I liked it.

It does shuffle up some of my dusty old posts, buried deep in the back closet of blogger. And I'm getting tons of outclicks on them, so I think it's well worth it. At least for today. I'm sure I'll tire of it at some point and remove it.

I was hiding:) However, you did find my blog. I used to have a bunch of posts, but I hated them so I got rid of them and started over. My blog doesn't get too many hits, but I'm thinking I should have a spring giveaway and that could bring in the comments. It's getting there, though. However, I blog to remind myself of all the stuff I find. And that's really the only reason, because there is so much stuff I love I'd forget it all. Ugh, I should just come to Europe and go blow some money someday. That would be idea. I'll have to talk my parents into paying for a "family" trip. haha

I tried to add it, but couldn't get it going with Wordpress. I don't see a problem with it myself.

It sure made me smile when I saw old entries that I had forgotten about. I am going to try it for awhile. I don't think it takes anyway from the blog, at least that is my opinion.

I'm keeping mine for now....I like it...even if nobody else is reading the past posts, I AM !!!

soooo many posts that I'd completely forgotten about have surfaced again and I LOVE IT..and I always think there must be new readers who aren't going to go back to your archives, BUT will probably click on these to learn more about you :)

Interesting - it's the first place I've seen it. I believe they link to other posts of yours? Seems sort of unnecessary to me.
