everything is illuminated

things i've learned through observation in recent days (because it was time for a list)...

~  white leggings with a heavy, shapeless white sweater and brown suede pumps on a late october day is a fashion crime in need of an executioner.

~  teenagers crave attention, no matter where you find them. even if they're standing right next to a picasso and a matisse, they will still think you should have all your attention on them and make a lot of strange sounds and statements to achieve this. even if you don't know them.

~  to get along in norwegian, you should know the phrase, ikke sandt (which i may have spelled in danish).

~ i detect glee on the part of my coworkers at the thought that i do not go home to my family in the evenings when i am working here. what is wrong with people?

~ people really don't like it if you do not reveal everything they think you should. even when directly asked. but sometimes there's stuff that's just not people's business.

couchsurfing totally rocks. i highly recommend it. you meet interesting people who have traveled and seen things and have both funny and poignant stories to tell. go, sign up your couch right now! :-)

~ i am not hungry for lunch at 10:45 a.m.

~ the dutch make some seriously good headache medicine.

~ norway excels at cinnamon pastries. they're like to die for. exactly the right amount of cinnamon, breadiness and crispy sugar on top. worth a flight to oslo just for them.

~ i miss reading all of your blogs, but i'm writing my little fanny off right now on work stuff, so i have no time to visit. it will ease up in about two weeks.

You certainly sound super super busy! What's up with lunch before 11? What's up with lunch at noon, btw - I eat mine at 2.30 or 3 p.m.
Oh wait.
I freelance.
But seriously - before 11? That's called FIKA! Or mellanmål.

That picture is magical. I like the little detail of one light out.

I didn't realize that Norway could serve two of my important needs: cinnamon pastry and good headache medicine!

i'll tell you the truth. i don't like the sound of any of this. you do not sound happy. to heck with happy, you don't even sound like you.
get out of there as soon as you can.
if it were possible i would come over there now and break you out like no one's business.

as it is,
i just wish you a good nights sleep anda safe trip home, as soon as that can happen.

and that is one pretty picture.

do something nice for yourself.

xo,
tara

I have a teenager, and I can so relate to your comment that they crave attention. I used to think toddlers needed a lot of attention, but I was wrong. Teens need way more.

Cinnamon pasteries..yum...book me a ticket to oslo. I'm on my way.

I am such a fashion criminal. If it were truly a law, I would be serving a life sentence.

Love cinnamon pastry, too bad I live in MN. : )

There's lots wrong with people. Feeling glee at your absence from your family is just another example that there's lots wrong with people.

I would enjoy couch surfing, but I don't get to do it with anyone other than my dogs!

I hope you will return home soon.

I know you don't get involved in all the hoopla, but you were recognized on my blog today.

Thank you for the information on teens that leaves me time to prepare myself. And I'm very glad Dutch headache medicine works for you, too bad that it won't do the trick for me.

I hope you find time to do everything you wish to.

"Ikke sant" is an eastern Norway thing. Here we say "vettu" (or vet du?).

I love lightbulbs. And thus your photo.

What a refreshing post.;) Ikke sandt is also used in Swedish, in that case; inte sant.;)
And hurray for couchsurfing.;)

The photograph and title are wonderful!

Besides the fact that I love the picture, your statements are true...white leggings and that whole big-TOTAL NO!

Teenagers just need to be smacked sometimes.

People should mind their business but rarely ever do.

I am hungry for BREAKFAST by 10:45!

Please send us some of that headache medicine and dutch pastry, thanks!

White leggings should be banned. I mean re4ally, what is the point! Also, mmmmmmm cinnamon pastries.

Fab...love your list! Although traumatised by you working your fanny off. fanny is ENTIRELY a different word over here than it is 'over there'.

Also, teenagers always talk..just...a...little...bit...tooooooo..loud. About nothing. FAIL.
