what if...

...someone made an IQ atlas of the world?

would we like the results? would we want to know? would our fears be confirmed? or would we be amazed? is ignorance really bliss?

i'm imagining one in my brain and it actually looks quite beautiful.

Love the detailed picture of the embroidery. It is made in the style of the one that is hanging in the Bork Havn museum.

I am not sure if I would want to have my brain researched for an IQ atlas. Feels kind of private.

Very nice!

I'm just back from vacation and catching up on my reading. Hope you're doing great.

I loved the video on your last post-- I wasn't sure where it was going but what a delightful surprise.

Off to read more...

Your question has me going places that I didn't know existed. Thought-provoking, it is. Many thanks.

Greetings from London.

I'm sure it would surprise us all! Why don't you create one?

I had to giggle at your response to my "ponderous gloom of the summer". Actually, between the dreadful head and the oil spill, that's sort of what it felt like here. I am happy autumn is returning!

IQ atlas of the world? as in: where the most intelligent people live?

if yes, then I think ignorance IS bliss

I think and IQ atlas, if it simply plotted standard IQ test results ,would be wrong anyway, because the tests are so fickle, but my father-in-law(a psychiatrist) and I had an interesting discussion about this. a while ago.

For a long time, people have wanted to research the impact genetics, lifestyle and even racehave on IQ, and what the link is, but people being scarily PC is preventing it.

I don't think ignorance is bliss, I think that we could learn alot about different types of intelligence from people all around the world, and I also think people like to bury their head in the sand and ignore the fact that their are people everywhere who are denied a basic education.

I also think it's interesting that people take the words 'IQ atlas of the world' and take it at face value. It would be wonderful, I think to have a worldwide record of the different types of intelligence, styles/methods of learning and maintaining knowledge, and skills that the human race possess.

That got a bit ranty in the middle, sorry!
