no boring chairs

when the light falls like this, you don't need anything more than a lovely designer chair. summer is fading fast, but we are soaking it up, when it's not soaking us with torrential rain showers. i'm back to work after a couple of weeks of vacation and it's a slow start. most everyone will be back next week and then things will pick back up. it's nice to have a bit of a lull. i hope you're getting one too.

a magical secret chair

yesterday, i took a walk down around the lake after work. i needed to get outside and get some fresh air, so i donned my rubber boots and headed down there. i walked closer to the lake than usual, thinking that the mama swan was on a nest somewhere along the edge. i wanted to find her and see the nest. the papa swan was out on the lake and didn't flee as usual when he saw me. he actually seemed a bit aggressive, so maybe the nest was on our side of the lake and i was looking in the wrong spot. but, in looking, i happened upon an amazing handmade lounge chair. it was made of sticks and held together by fishing line. it looked like it had been there for a few years, so it wasn't newly constructed. i didn't try sitting in it, i just photographed it. but i might want to go out there and try it out. i wasn't sure it was strong enough to hold me anymore, but i will try it this weekend. i rather want to sit there and look out on the lake. it was quite idyllic and in such a peaceful spot. it felt a bit like happening upon a secret magic haven. if it's nice this weekend, i want to go down and feel the magic.

no boring chairs, no boring lamps

i'm still nauseated from being driven around in a bus by the worst bus driver in denmark today, so i give you only a little taste of what i saw. featuring, because there are no boring chairs in denmark...chairs. these are colorful theatre chairs at nicolai in kolding.

these stools were allowed to get covered in paint in the wonderful children's workshop room at nicolai in kolding.

these chairs line the public pedestrian corridor prags boulevard on amager in copenhagen.

and there are also no boring lamps in denmark. these fabulous spidery lamps at the new library on rentemestervej in copenhagen's northwest quarter attest to that.

more tomorrow.

happy colors, happy feet, happy weekend!

nothing says spring quite like a new pair of shoes.
lots of goodness planned this weekend.
an art exhibition.
a couple of lectures.
some time in the sunshine.
maybe even a run or two (just not in these shoes).

and at our house, we're counting down to One Direction in berlin.

happy weekend, one and all!

must. have. these. chairs.

photo from here
as you know, i live in the land of no boring chairs and so i have a bit of a...ahem....chair fixation. so when i found out that they're making the Hans Wegner wishbone (Y) chair in shades of blue, i nearly fainted dead away from desire.  we already have these chairs in soaped oak, but you can always use more of a classic. especially in shades of blue/turquoise.
