a day at the beach or bundle up folks, there's a reason they call it the north sea!

so that summer thing just lasted the one day. today dawned cloudy and got windier as the day progressed. determined to defy it, we packed up our wellies and headed for the west coast of denmark, which is now only about an hour away. it was cloudy when we first got there, but we (being me and sabin) were dressed for it (husband wore shorts, trying to prove his viking-ness, i guess). but the sun did eventually come out.

i love the beach.
todays haul: 24 heart-shaped rocks, 7 rocks with eyes, 9 pieces of beach glass
a bit cloudy, but the north sea is fantastic nonetheless.
it can literally blow all your cares away.
bonding time. he was probably making up some story or other.
there was a big group of kite surfers on the ringkøbing fjord
have i mentioned that i love the beach?
since summer is so unreliable in these parts, you learn to take what sunshine you can get and do stuff anyway, even if the sunshine isn't there. we were so glad we went to the beach today. the sound of the surf and the wind whipping your hair is just good for the soul.

more tomorrow of all the stones we gathered....

So incredibly beautiful!!!

I can't wait to head to our "North Sea" (Lake Superior) in August. Love the rocks. I think I may need to designate a sport outside solely for rock display.

What breath-taking photos! I love the one of hubby and Sabin. We saw the north sea in Scotland but Bambi said it didn't count because I didn't dip my toes in. So I guess I'll have to come visit you in Denmark!

Seriously, the ocean is good for the soul. I'm jealous. Plus, I love the heart shaped rock.

lol at Barb, but its true, you have to have the ceremonial dipping of the toes!

I love those heart rocks. very cool. but what is sea glass (yes, I'm a mid-westerner thru and thru -- dang it!)

great pictures (as always). Sabins tights are awesome!

yay, it seems the good weather came to your way, even for one day, after leaving Finland! after the incredible few weeks of summer, the dull, cloudy, grey and rainy weather is back here too. I agree about the unreliable summer and how it makes you take what sunshine you can get (and about loving beach! I wish I'd live near one) and can't wait to read more about all the stones you gathered.. what's beach glass, by the way?

Your pictures are brilliant, so atmospheric! Also, Sabin is V stylish for a small child.

Yesterday and today we went also to the beach, the place to hang out of us. Yesterday it was warm and since Jens was tired we took a nap together. Today we were almost blown away by the cold wind but all our thoughts were straightened out. All in all it was fantastic.

Love you butterfly flowers!!!!

Wonderful images! When I was in Holland (north of Amsterdam, close to the coast) I could really feel the pull of the North Sea. It must be interesting being even further north, with the sea a constant presence.
