this weekend, i took the last of the season's bounties from the garden - tomatoes red and green, thyme, basil, chili peppers, zucchini, eggplant, parsley, zucchini flowers, shallots and borlotti beans and i turned them into this:
#68 - canned mixed veggies
for use this winter with some good bread and a salty hard prima donna cheese. i was inspired by camilla plum's programs on preserves on DR2. so inspired in fact, that i also made these...
#69 apple butter, #70 preserved lemons, #71 apple chutney
more later about my 24 hours with no internet...

Tasty and lovely all at the same time!
I want to do this. I froze my garden bounty, but this looks beautiful.
Looks delicious! I like the jars too.
aren't you the good one? totally jealous. but I do admit I ran to the farmer's market this weekend and got some of the last butter beans and lady peas of the season.
so that's where you've been! canned (jarred?) mixed veggies look fab, they made me hungry and I just had lunch - that's how good they look
only I'm not so sure about hard and salty prima donna cheese, hope it tastes better than it sounds
You canned veggies look delicious. Just went to Camilla's place and saw a yummy recipe for our more than surplus of hazelnuts. That means so more kitchen time this week.
Thanks for the comments and the ideas.
Perfect motivation. So today I'm getting a few bottles of wine and pickling myself - I know it's Monday, but that just makes it perfect.
Oh my -- setting up Domestic Diva standards too intimidating to meet! They are gorgeous!
OMG, do you have a recipe or some tips in general on how to make #68 - the vegetables? I would love to do this.
BTW, Julie I have been using BC's bounty of fresh blackberries and cherries to make blackberry liqueur and cherry brandy.
oh these look yummy! the jars are heaven!
xo
oh wow, what a cook you are! these look so beautiful! (i'm really jealous of people who own a garden... *sigh*)
Very impressive! Looks lovely and no doubt will taste the same.
Those look amazingly delectable.
Yum. Are the mixed vegetables pickled?
