tuesday means it's time for randomness

totally gratuitous picture of an airplane wing
because she did it and so did she
and i hate to be albanienated (great word HRH TFM!)

yes, it's time for one of those random posts. is it usually on a tuesday? do i always feel random on tuesdays? does my brain always overload on tuesday? these are just a small selection of the random thoughts going through my head at the moment. here are the rest.

: : danes should not rap. they have not suffered enough. there is no 'hood. danish sounds like crap when rapped.

: : even more so norwegians. it's just not authentic when you're so white and so upper middle class. do not rap, please. got it?

: : thankfully, i have never heard swedish rap. swedes probably have too much taste and class. and too many volvos. people never rap about a volvo. or a saab.

: : i'm a night person, not a morning person. night feels deliciously long, it stretches out to be all the time i need it to be. morning feels impossibly fleeting and bound to be interrupted by day itself. gimme night any day.

: : "i made some new spaces inside myself." --jane campion, IHT, 17/5.09

: : still doing tara's double colons instead of bullets. i love them.

: : why oh why did they make more than one episode of that ridiculous stylista show? i'm only watching again in the eternal futile hope that they are all taken out back and shot at the end of THIS one.

: : "i followed your blog now. does that mean it will come when i call it?" --monique, via googletalk, 18/5.09

: : i want a tattoo of a helleristning.

: : do you think it's possible that otherwise cool cities have pockets of dorkiness? how do they become that way when they're surrounded by coolness?

: : do you ever have the feeling that everyone else has it all figured out and you're the only one who doesn't?

: : when will the last of the dinosaurs really die out?

it's just so good to get this out. thanks for listening. if you have answers to any of these questions, please do leave a comment! or just share your own randomness. it's all good.

Which one of the helleristninger would you like to have?

Coolness is in the eye of the beholder influenced by marketing experts.

And I know that I haven't figured out absolut nothing rap.

I'm together with Lorac because I also consider myself one of the last dinosaurs. GRRRR

lorac & elizabeth--i am absolutely certain that neither of you are the variety of dinosaur i'm actually referring to, so no worries there.

the tattoo would have to be a helleristning of a viking ship.

everyone else has it figured out...who? where are they? I want to talk to them.

When did I become a frequency modulation (FM)?
The image of rapping Danes and Norwegians may be the funniest thing in my head this week.
In scanning-down-the-list mode I picked up "double colons" and wondered where you kept the extra.
Since you've mentioned the helleristning before, I say do it at blog camp.
As long as Y chromosones exist, so will the dinosaurs.

A random thought...
Why is the only cigarette smoker in the whole parking lot standing next to me?

sorry about the FM thing--it's too long to type it all out...shall i say TFM?

and about the smoker--it's because you don't smoke and therefore breathe deeply, attracting smoke towards you.

Darn it. Good comment gone awaste. Blogger Gods how may we appease you?

I'd really prefer Her Royal Highness The Fragrant Muse, but in the interest of brevity, FM is fine. Hell, I'm happy just to be here.

swedes rap. just like cities, the otherwise cool swedish people can have dorks among them. and they rap. in swedish.

btw i loved your little helleristninger. mentioned it the other day on my blog :)

Ok, the people who have it figured out are just faking it better then you.

dorky parts of the city - they have to make everyone fit in and where would Clark Kent live? everyone needs dorky super heros to fix the cities problems

Ok... I will admit it. I guess I can be a bitch. Your random comment...

Do you ever feel that everyone else has it all figured out and you're the only one who doesn't. Is the reverse for me. I wish to heck everyone else would figure out some things. I am tired of explaining how things work for folks.

Definitely am a night owl, too, although mornings (which I have to greet because I have kids to get ready for school) are my quiet and creative time (probably because only one half of my brain is working).

Who are these mysterious people who have it all figured out? Are they in some secretive club that laughs at us? Or are they in league with the polar bear assassins?

Char said...

actually yes....now will you let me in on the knowledge?

it's just that sometimes you look around at perfect little healthy, well-dressed norwegian families w/their nice cars and expensive-looking haircuts, hanging out in the gold lounge before their flight on their postcard pretty holiday and you think they must have it all figured out. and then you try to tuck in your wrinkled shirt and go grab another glass of free wine so you care less.

on the subject of Swedish rap: yes, it does exist. no, often not very good. but there are good ones, actually: check out timbuktu (rap/hiphop)

I'm with you on the delicious nights. Morning always comes so abruptly (and violently for the alarm clock) and by the time my brain processes all the stuff I HAVE to do and I get to the stuff I WANT to do, most everyone else is already in bed again. Such a vicious cycle!

Odd woman out...I like mornings. I've found that I'm at my best at about 9am. I've already walked the dogs, had my coffee, getting ready to work-out at the gym. I'm not sure how creative I am at 9am, but I can usually figure out the NYT crossword and a sudoku. Of course I'm not creative at 9pm either. Also at 9pm I've usually had a glass of wine, so ready to go to bed...sad, yet true.

as for people having it figured out, send them my way, I think they are all hiding it too

Oh, and HRHTFM, I always liked Pharmacy Goddess of All That Is Right With The World. Didn't get very far with that one.

I drive a volvo. A rap about a volvo. How funny to think about. I will ask the 3rd grader son to come up with one!
