it's about time...

today, after accidentally waking up at 7:15 on a saturday, thanks to husband's alarm still being on, i realized that you can get so much done on a saturday if you don't sleep 'til noon. and i realized a few more things. most importantly, i had a moment of feeling totally grown up. for the first time ever within my memory.

and do you know what i was doing when i had the moment of being a grown up? i was stacking firewood. it hit me suddenly that i'm a person with a house that has not only one, but two fireplaces (ok, so they're wood-burning stoves, but still) and thus have a need to do the very responsible, grown-up activity of stacking firewood.

i know, it's a little strange that it took this long, but that's how it is.

I find when I start feeling like a grownup the only recourse is to lie down until the feeling goes away.

Not strange at all. When my dad was in his late 50's, he told me about how he still didn't feel like a grown up. And I realized after that that I would never feel like one either, though occasionally I get those little glimpses like you did. It's all normal girl ;)

I always wonder when the grown up is going to swoop in and take care of things for me. I have four kids, a business, a house, a cabin, vehicles, etc... all things that I "thought" made a person a grown up. However, I swear our bodies get older then our minds... My grandma always said she felt like a little girl in an old ladies body. I am only now starting to understand that!

But, I agree with Iasa - lay down the feeling may go away!

Now I have to stop and think if I've ever had that grown-up feeling and nothing's coming to mind...but maybe I'm getting to old to remember.

I'm with Iasa. I would lie down, and maybe have some chocolate milk.

And all along I've been reading because I thought you were such I grown up, I might learn a thing or two! Go figure...
I feel like everyone stays young in their minds forever, if that means that we feel and hurt and want...and our bodies betray us and make us feel like fools for still wanting.
Oh, I'm sorry, did I say that out loud?
Take care, girl...tt

Loved the post. I'm not sure if I should congratulate you and feel sorry. Oh well either or, follow Lasa advice, lie down ~ hopefully the feeling will pass. LOL Barb xo

I wish the feeling of not being a grown-up would swoop over me. I've been grown-up far too long. Hopefully, the feeling will pass for you! Now my letters are 'sceptio'. Is that Italian for sceptic?
